Taliban Benefiting from VoIP Technology in Their Fight Against USA

Taliban, the so called fundamentalists are usually considered far away from modern information technology. It may be a shocking news for everyone that they are now using internet phones or VoIP phone service to evade M16 and CIA in Afghanistan. No one can turn his eyes from the importance of Information Technology. Internet has become an important and easy source of communications. Unfortunately, this technology is not always used for good purpose. Everyone knows terrorist are also using it for communication.

Although, Allied forces have far better technology than these terrorists but in Afghanistan the Taliban are now also trying to protect themselves from American and other allied forces by using VoIP phone technology for communication. Different technology blogs describe how skype, the most famous consumer software providing free calls on internet, is used by many terrorist groups.

An intelligence report says USA and other allies are facing a lot of trouble in afghanistan because of this technology. According to the report, it is very hard to break the viop phone calls while thier availability is so easy. Its now very easy to use VoIP on cell phones also. The country's cell phone network is expanding very quickly.

According to a report, the intelligence agencies find it very difficult (not impossible) to track these internet calls. This is a solid fact, which they have accepted (i could not confirm that from any independant resources). Taliban are taking advantages from these calls and they are trying to continue their activities in this way.

Both British and American governments are paying a sound budget for the resources to trace the codes and to make these calls useless. For this purpose they are introducing a law to force all ISP to log all web activities.

The are rumors that Mr. David Pepper, who is the head of GCHQ had told that they were tracking VoIP calls successfully to make a way to monitor Taliban's activities.
