Post Mortem of Mobile VoIP Phone in USA

As far as the telecom industry is concerned, 20th century belongs to land line phone technology. However, at the end of the previous century came internet, which brought revolutionary changes to the telecom world. Now we can enjoy text communication in the form of email and chat. Experts have started to communicate voice using internet protocols. Communication of voice via internet is named as VoIP, internet phone or IP telephony. Right now, people are using this service on mobile phones also. VoIP service providers are advertising their smart phones solutions and making good sales. Let us see if mobile VoIP is actually as good as advertised by the voip providers. Let us have a look at the reality.

Don’t forget the Hype Created by Media
Past few years research indicates that mobile VoIP sales have grown. You would find many articles on internet, which suggest the overwhelming popularity of mobile VoIP in USA. The fact is, this new technology has been very popular but voip phone service providers in USA have been trying to create a hype regarding the popularity of their services. You must know mobile voip can not be used on all mobile phone sets. It can be used on very high cost mobile phone sets only. Right now, only 40% of the US adult population has access to these high cost mobile phone sets. Majority of the population does not need these iphones and androids at all. Only a small number of people need such hi-tech gadgets and then VoIP service on them .

Need a Stable Wi-Fi, Which is Not Possible
Now a day, almost all the mobile VoIP providers recommend wi-fi internet service. Although, nearly every building in USA has wi-fi internet but I don't think you always get the same speed and signals everywhere. A mobile VoIP may work good at some places but poor wi-fi quality will annoy you most of the day as you always need to be within the “safe” range of a wi-fi internet device.

Mobile VoIP is Difficult to Configure
Configuration of VoIP on any mobile is a complicated task for a man who is not a tech savy guy like Steve Jobs. You can't configure your iphone or android gadget without precise guidance from your VoIP career. That makes mobile VoIP a problem instead of a solution to any problem.

Mobile VoIP Should be More Easy to Install
No doubt, in future mobile VoIP phone services providers will enjoy growth in sales but I don't think the mobile VoIP related products are going to do any miracles in future. Due to the above mentioned reasons, I would not suggest anyone to switch to mobile VoIP. For mobile VoIP service providers, the only way out is to make their services more friendly with low cost mobile phones. They have to make the configuration process easy. Without doing that, they would not be able to survive in the volatile VoIP phone market in USA.
